Had an excellent experience with Turkey Heating & Cooling. Roland was able to not only squeeze us into his day, but also help us fix our furnace issue. He was very knowledgeable and informative of what was going on and the options we had. Our furnace was cleaned and running same day and it’s never looked better! Highly recommend Turkey Heating & Cooling, we will be repeat customers for sure!

Working with Turkey Heating & Cooling has been A++ from start to finish. We wanted a mini-split to heat and cool our home office, and we added a second head in the living room to replace an old through-the-wall AC unit. The team was on time, respectful, and extremely patient. They took careful measurements and presented multiple options and price points for us to consider. Ours is an older home, and they anticipated every challenge before it came up. They left the house spotless, and now every space is comfortable. The end result is everything we asked for and more! Roland, the owner, was fantastic, and every Turkey employee and subcontractor we worked with deserves the same praise. In fact, we’re having their handyman back next week to help with some other odds and ends around the house. We’ll definitely use Turkey for our next project and highly recommend them.

Roland was exceptional. He not only assessed the whole system, resolved issues with the radiators, cleaned the boiler, and provided recommendations, he also included some extra materials without charging us. He took the time to patiently explain and answer any questions we had throughout the day. It’s clear that he is passionate about what he does, which is always awesome to see! When he heard that we were running our own small business, he even recommended several books and podcasts that he thought we might find helpful. It can be tricky inviting strangers into your home when you have 2 toddlers running around, but Roland was kind and understanding of our time and availability throughout the day. Highly recommend!

Roland came on the day of the issue we were experiencing. His professionalism was evident right from the beginning. We found it that it was an issue beyond our control, but reviewed our system as a whole (a new purchase for us), and he pointed out multiple things that could use improvement. His quote for the job was spot on, and he was back the next day to complete the work. I would not hesitate to recommend Roland, and Turkey Heating & Cooling, to anyone who was in need of his services.

How can we help?

Central Air Conditioning FAQs

Q: How often should I change my AC filter?

For a dedicated cooling-only system, checking the filter monthly during summer and replacing it every 1–3 months when dirty is standard. Homes with pets, higher dust levels, or family members with seasonal allergies may need more frequent changes. (Combined year-round heating/cooling systems sharing ductwork may need filter changes 2–4 times a year to keep coils clear.)

Q: Do I need new ductwork when replacing central AC?

Not necessarily. In many cases, your existing ductwork can be safely reused with a new system. During your replacement consultation, we’ll inspect your ductwork to make sure it’s structurally sound and clean enough to handle the airflow requirements of modern equipment.

Q: Do you service older central air systems?

Yes. We troubleshoot and service older central air systems as well as modern, high-efficiency units. If parts are safely available, we’ll gladly repair your existing system rather than push a replacement.

Q: What’s the difference between central AC and a heat pump?

Physically, the two look nearly identical, and both cool your home the same way in summer — by removing indoor heat. The difference is that traditional central AC can only cool. A heat pump has an internal reversing valve that lets it run backward in winter, pulling ambient heat from outdoor air to heat your home efficiently, even on a cold New England day. As a participating Mass Save® contractor, we can help you understand whether a qualifying heat pump installation may be eligible for utility rebates or HEAT Loan financing.

Q: Can low refrigerant cause my AC to freeze?

Yes. Low refrigerant drops the system’s operating pressure, which can cause the indoor evaporator coil to freeze into a block of ice and restrict airflow. Central air conditioners are sealed systems, so they don’t naturally use up refrigerant over time — a low level always points to a physical leak that needs to be found and repaired.

Q: Is my AC worth repairing, or should I replace it?

If your system is under 10 years old and the repair is minor, fixing it is usually the most practical choice. If the system is over 12–15 years old, faces frequent breakdowns, uses obsolete refrigerants, or needs a very expensive component replaced (like a compressor), we’ll help you weigh the cost of repair against the long-term value of a new system.

Q: What kind of warranty protection do you provide?
  • New Equipment Installations: Covered by a 1-year full parts and labor warranty. If any part of your new system has an issue, we take ownership of the fix at no cost to you.
  • Service Repairs: Replacement components installed during a standard repair call are covered by a 2-year parts warranty.

This workmanship coverage sits alongside standard manufacturer equipment warranties, which vary by equipment type and registration — we’ll walk you through the details before any work begins.
